Since 2013 Wa-PYDO has delivered livelihoods, education, protection, peacebuilding and emergency programmes across the Somali Region of Ethiopia. Here is what we are running and what we have completed.

Livelihoods & Food Security
Helping people earn, not just survive
Livestock, crops, cooperatives, markets and enterprise — for refugees, host communities and pastoralists moving out of herding.
Integrated Livelihoods Programme, 2015–2025
Eleven consecutive years across five Dollo Ado refugee camps and their host kebeles, reaching around 180,000 people. IKEA Foundation, through UNHCR.
RESET Plus Innovation Project
Four registered cooperatives and two farmer-owned input supply centres in Fikow and Boryale. European Union, through COOPI and Triple Bottom Line Enterprises. 2020–2023.
WFP Resilience Programme — IFTIIN, SAMAS and SMART
Climate-smart agriculture, digital farm advisory and market systems across Dollo Ado, Dollo Bay and Bokolmayo. Launched February 2026, ongoing with WFP.

Starting where the gap starts
Brighter Outcomes Ethiopia
17 pre-primary and ECCE centres across the five Dollo Ado refugee camps, reaching 18,250 children including 311 children with disabilities. Global Affairs Canada, through Save the Children. 2023–2026.

Protection and GBV Response in Kelafo
Mobile protection teams, community protection committees, psychosocial support and case management across four kebeles of Kelafo Woreda. Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund / OCHA. 2026–2027.
Fik GBV Prevention and Response
GBV prevention and response in four kebeles of Fik Woreda, Erer Zone, delivered with QWDA. 1,515 people reached in 2025. Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, through Plan International. Ongoing.

Keeping communities talking
Cross-Border Community Resilience Activity
Cross-border peace dialogue between the Garre and Dogodia, business training for 80 displaced women, and dignity kits for 400 schoolgirls. USAID Feed the Future, through Chemonics. 2022–2023.
Deris Wanaag
Conflict prevention paired with business grants for ten marginalised women’s and youth groups along the Dollo Ado–Dollo Bay corridor. Adam Smith International / Deris Wanaag Consortium. 2024–2025.

When the season fails
PROLIFE Drought Response
101,010 animals vaccinated, 240 farmers resupplied, a new well serving 3,900 people in Suftu, and cash for 180 households. Ethiopia Humanitarian Fund / OCHA. 2024–2025.
Emergency and community response, 2014–2022
Flood evacuations, water purification, shelter and food for displaced families, school materials for orphans and vulnerable children, and Ramadan food baskets — funded from Wa-PYDO’s own resources and member contributions.
Where the older work sits
Between 2014 and 2025 Wa-PYDO also delivered a series of UNHCR and IKEA Foundation livestock and livelihoods projects — ERLILEP, PERLLE, LELACIP, ELRLPAI, ELIT-LAEP, SLEEP and LET-WITE — together with the Inclusive Digital Economies Action with UNCDF, ZOA and Jamii Pay. These are documented year by year on the Integrated Livelihoods Programme page rather than as separate entries, because they were one continuous programme in the same five camps.
